‘The Collectio’
AirBnB Pixel renovation
Why
As a group project, we were asked to redesign two historic locations within upcoming suburbs of South-east Queensland. No matter how old or rundown the sites were, a complete renovation was to take place. The client also asked for a rebranding within the Pixels.
How
This project demonstrates the first location in Annerley, Brisbane. As the suburb is becoming urban retro and trendy amongst youth, it was vital that this was represented in the outcome. The sites original history was to be executed with the outcome.
The Collectio is identified as a an AirBnB Pixel. Two locations were chosen for The Collectio, Ipswich and Annerley in South-east Queensland where history was found. This project demonstrates the Pixel located in Annerley. The Collectio means a place of gathering in the language of Latin, deriving inspiration from the histories of both buildings as they include social aspects and specific cultural views of the original owners. Textures, colours and patterns used through the Pixel creates a warm, welcoming and comforting emotion to its guests.
Materials and textures were explored during the ideation process. This gave the team further insight to materials found in Modern Mid-century interiors. The materials also allow guest experience with a creative touch in urban and retro. Please find exploration below.
