‘Escaped Oasis’

2032 Brisbane Olympics

Why

The client was looking for a design that responds to the theme of the 2032 Brisbane Olympics. The construction of ‘The Athletes Village’ located in Hamilton, Brisbane holds businesses that are subject to displacement leading to re-location. Supporting data was to be collected using different data gathering methods.

Who

Three businesses have been identified as subjects to displacement, these being, The Buttery Music School, Petit Early Learning and The Wharf Restaurant. However, the target audience are small businesses.

THIS PROJECT IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION

Escaped Oasis is a solution to decrease the number of small businesses that will be affected by the addition of new Olympic construction located in Hamilton, Brisbane. The construction of ‘The Athletes Village’ will be the cause of many displacement issues within Hamilton. Specifically, the affected area is the Northshore of Hamilton where restaurants, cafes and shopping centres will have to be relocated.

Escaped Oasis features as a 10-story commercial building. On each level, 1 - 2 businesses (depending on the size) will be able to rent for a period of time. It will house the affected cafes, small businesses in the suburb of Hamilton. The baselevel, store front and building exterior of the building will include the culture and history found within Hamilton.
