‘Pause’

Like a warm cup of coffee. A space to enjoy and take a pause from University life.

‘Pause’

Renovation of existing site

Why

The client was looking for a space that offers a unique range of coffee and small complimentary range of in house -prepared food items. To allow for customers to relax and take a pause from the hustle and bustle of life.

Who

Griffith University students, staff and visitors. Customers who are seeking an iconic ‘coffee’ experience with fast-service takeaway and short-stay dining.

‘Pause’ is a café where students, teachers and workers can enjoy an escape from the hustle and bustle of University life. The space depicts cool earthy tones found in, natural materials and textures with supporting tones in yellow/warm lighting choices and bringing the surrounding nature in, to balance.

Pause was inspired by a coffee mug, something most students love. This was projected through browns, beige and warm white tones in furniture and fixtures. It is aimed as a space where guests are able to relax and feel comfortable.

Upcycling and recycling has been a part of many aspects of the space. Seen through focussing on sustainable materials by looking at local suppliers, and reusing what the café already has.
